Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter is leading former Republican Rep.Pat Toomey 47 percent to 41 percent with 12 percent undecided, according to a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted March 8-10. The margin of error is 4 points. (Hey Pennsylvania... Haven't you had ENOUGH of Arlen Specter yet? If not, vote for him again! ~ S.I.A.)

Both candidates get an equal amount of support from members of their own parties, while Specter leads among independents 46 percent to 41 percent with 13 percent undecided.

The Research 2000 poll's findings were about the same as a
Quinnipiac University poll conducted late February.

Toomey has a statistically insignificant lead over Specter's challenger in the Democratic primariy, Rep. Joe Sestak. Toomey is ahead of Sestak 42 percent to 39 percent with 19 percent undecided. Sestak, who was running far behind Specter in a mid-February
Franklin & Marshall poll, gets only 68 percent support from fellow Democrats in the match-up with Toomey while Specter gets 81 percent.
