"Want to Play a Game?"... 7 Year Old Boy Lured Into Woods By Gang of School Boys for 'LYNCHING'!

Bullies who tried to hang a boy of seven lured him to the noose by saying: 'Do you want to play a game?'  Bradley McLachlan agreed to go with the trio, all under ten, because they said they wanted to 'muck about' with him and 'have some fun'.

But once they got into a wooded area of a park they turned on him, thrusting his head through a rope noose they had already rigged up on a branch.

The boys ran off laughing, leaving Bradley choking and suspended a few inches above the ground.

He managed to wriggle free however and made it home in tears to his grandmother's house near to the park in Portsmouth.

His aunt, Sandy McLachlan, demanded the parents of the three boys, believed to be just seven, eight and nine, call in the police.

'If they've got any decency they should hand them in' she said.

'What they did was wrong and if they're doing that at this age I dread to think what they will do later in their lives.

'Boys that age won't be able to keep a secret like this from their parents.

'I believe Bradley had been playing football on one of the Astroturf pitches in the park and was on his way home when he was stopped by these three boys.

'They asked him "do you want to pay a game?" and wanted to muck about with him and have some fun so, as boys of that age do, he went with them  -  and they strung him up.

'It's a miracle he's still alive. The kids that did this ran off laughing  -  they did it just for kicks.

'They gave him no warning at all and I can't believe they could be so cold and premeditated as they were.'

At least one of the boys, who were all dressed in red T-shirts, combat shorts and white trainers, is thought to live close to Bransbury Park where the incident took place.

Miss McLachlan said: 'Bradley is still afraid of going to the park. A while after this happened he actually saw one of the boys that did it riding through the park on a BMX and it brought it all back.

'He was in floods of tears because that means he lives nearby.

'This lynching left Bradley with a red and raw rope mark on the side of his neck stretching from his ear down to his chin. He's normally such an outgoing kid but this has hit him for six. It wasn't a game or a joke, it was just sick.'

The shocking incident happened a month ago and police have launched a fresh appeal to the public for information.

However, even if they catch the children responsible they will not be able to prosecute them because they are below the age of criminal responsibility.

The attack has echoes of the case of James Bulger, who was murdered on Merseyside in February 1993.

Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, both ten, abducted two-year-old James from a shopping precinct in Bootle, tortured him, then battered him to death on a railway line.

The pair were ordered to be detained indefinitely, and for at least 15 years, but were released in 2001 and moved to a secret location with new identities.

In 2005, a girl of 12 left a five-year-old boy hanging by a wire from a tree in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, because she was 'in a bad mood'.

He was thought to be just seconds from death when she removed the noose.

Of the Portsmouth case, Detective Sergeant Fiona Holland of Hampshire Police said: 'I am appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward.

'We need to speak to the children involved to ensure they understand the possible consequences of the incident and ensure while they are out playing during the summer holidays they are also staying safe.

'The boys were unknown to the victim and we would like to appeal for information to help us identify these children.'
