2008 Economic Stimulus Refund E-Mail SCAM!  DO NOT respond to this e-mail should you receive one.

This is the message in the e-mail...

Over 130 million Americans will receive refunds as
part of President Bush program to jumpstart the economy.

Our records indicate that you are qualified to receive the
2008 Economic Stimulus Refund.

The fastest and easiest way to receive your refund is by
direct deposit to your checking/savings account.

Please click on the link and fill out the form and submit
before May 01th, 2008 to ensure that your refund will be
processed as soon as possible.

Submitting your form on May 01th, 2008 or later means that
your refund will be delayed due to the volume of requests we
anticipate for the Economic Stimulus Refund.

This e-mail is bogus!  Obvious indicators it is a scam...

1. When you clicked on any link on the application form, it brought you back to the application form.

2.  In the application form they ask for a CREDIT CARD NUMBER, expiration date, SECURITY CODE on back of card AND your PIN NUMBER!!!!!

3. Nowhere does it ask for your bank account information in order to make the direct deposit they mention above.  Your rebate check will be made by direct deposit to your bank or you will receive it by mail depending how you requested it when filing your taxes.

DO NOT respond to these type of e-mails.  If you are unsure, print out all of the information you received in the email and take it to the IRS office for varification.
