Retribution for Slavery - President Obama Will See To It!

Submitted by SadInAmerica on Sun, 03/16/2008 - 8:04pm.

Is America ready to pay reparations for slavery? What is that you say, "Doesn't Senator Barack Obama oppose reparations for slavery?" Well, no. He doesn't.

In fact the reparations crowd in Washington and Chicago is salivating at the prospect Obama might stumble into the White House and put them on track for a reparations gravy train for slavery which took place centuries ago.

To tackle the topic, first, a simple question: is Obama opposed to reparations? Indeed, the question is not so simple. Nothing is ever simple and straightforward where Barry Obama and words come together. Obama's pirouettes on the question of reparations would enchant any balletomane; his position always depends on who is asking and who is listening. And who is watching.

Prior to his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004 Obama opposed reparations for slavery. After his election, Obama subtly changed his view, stating he was against "just signing over checks to African-Americans," leaving open the possibility of other forms of reparations would be acceptable to him (Chicago Tribune 11/14/2004).

Second, whom does Barry O "hang" with? Well, Obama hangs with the reparations crowd. Now guilt by association is certainly unfair. But if you hang with the reparations crowd, they must see something in you they like. Indeed they do. U. S. Representative John Conyers, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is reportedly waiting for Obama to be elected so Conyers can rush a reparations law through Congress. (The Hill, 3/13/ 2007) Hmmm. Does Conyers know something we don't?

Finally, the most telling indication that Obama has a secret addiction to reparations is reflected in those who support him and those whom he supports: the most notorious race-baiter on the Chicago City Council, Alderwoman Dorothy Tillman.

Haven't heard of Dorothy Tillman? You better learn about Obama's #1 supporter. And fast. You really should know who she is. Tillman has almost single-handedly made a joke of the City of Chicago in the public finance industry over her preoccupation with slavery and reparations.

Tillman supports Obama and Obama supports Tillman.

Last week Obama endorsed Tillman for re-election. Tillman was forced into a runoff after her opponents failed to agree on a single candidate to oppose her. Tillman was an early supporter of Obama's in his rise to prominence over the past decade.

And Tillman is a disgrace. Her favorite pastime is abusing banks and financial institutions that want to do business with the City of Chicago. A regular feature of council proceedings is Tillman flaying banks for "owning slaves" at some remote point in history over 150 years ago.

Using a 2002 "Slavery Era Disclosure Ordinance" that she authored, Tillman has accused Bank of America of having a predecessor bank that made "leg irons for slaves." Wachovia, J.P. Morgan Chase, LaSalle Bank, Lehman Brothers, American General and Nationwide Life Insurance were all brought before Tillman's mast and whipped for their ties to slavery, however remote, over 150 years ago.

Indeed, Tillman has been quoted as saying her goal is to "repair the damage of 400 years" of slavery. "America owes us," Tillman demands (Sun-Times 3/26/2007).

And yes, Obama has endorsed this carnival-style extortionist for reelection. So much for the audacity of Obama, so much for the "smallness" of politics in Chicago.

Tillman abuses and opposes anyone who thinks that slavery is not a major issue any more. When the City wanted to refinance $800 million in debt, Tillman was there claiming slavery should be an issue. Last fall, the City tried to lease parking garages for over a half billion dollars: the deal hit a "slavery speed bump." Tillman filed suit because her slavery ordinance was brushed aside (Sun-Times 12/1/2006). "The whole world is watching us just disregard this law for black people'We're totally disrespected as a people…," (Sun-Times 10/31/06). On and on it goes. Sounds like the race card to me.

Tillman accused Morgan Stanley of "getting rich from investments and profits in slavery," (Chicago Tribune, 10/30/ 2006). Morgan Stanley was formed in 1935.

[Full disclosure: My maternal ancestors arrived in the United States in the Twentieth Century. Unlike Obama's forebears, my grandparents had nothing to do with slavery. Why should I pay for the earlier sins of others? Why should anyone pay for events that took place in history?]

When Obama's critics attack him for the sermons of his pastor they are going too far, in my opinion. I am not responsible for what my minister says. Preachers get a lot of leeway in the pulpit.

But when a public official files a frivolous lawsuit against a half-billion dollar public finance deal, claiming that Blacks are being disrespected because of slavery, and Obama goes on to endorse that kind of nonsense, Obama should be charged with endorsing the antics of the reparations gang.

When confronted with the claims of some of his more controversial supporters President Reagan used to say, "They endorsed me; I didn't endorse them."

In the case of Barry Obama and Dorothy Tillman, he has endorsed her and her unseemly reparations crusade for slavery.

Only Obama doesn't want his national audience to know it. I seriously doubt that many of the tens of thousands of people who have succumbed to Obama's pleas for "hope" realize he "hopes" to force them to pay tax dollars to provide some form of compensation to people who weren't alive from people who weren't alive, all for the evils of slavery. They have no idea who Dorothy Tillman is, or what she stands for, or the damage she continues to do to taxpayers in Chicago. All in the name of slavery.

And yet ignorant suckers keep on giving, not knowing who Obama is and what he wants to accomplish if he should end up in the Oval office.

Psst. Ready to pay reparations for slavery? Obama's your man.

He just doesn't want you to know. Yet.

He's too busy working to re-elect Dorothy Tillman in two weeks.

The party is over for the unemployed people who are facing financial troubles due to bailouts and mortgage bills. Let me site to you an example. Bo Jackson was a standout talent as running back for the Oakland Raiders and as a left fielder and designated hitter for the Kansas City Royals, excelling at both before a hip injury sidelined him for good. Many would give short term loans to see him play again. However, he is trying his hand at something else. Bo is a part owner of the Burr Ridge Bank and Trust, a community bank in Burr Ridge, Illinois. He picked a community bank as a type of bank known for financial stability, and its unlikely Bo Jackson will ever need a mortgage loan modification.

Isn't it strange how two people of two different ethnic groups can interpret the same subject differently!?

Slavery was wrong! Just like employing Chinese railroad labor at a fourth of the pay of white labor, but the Chinese was subjected to doing the worst of and the most of the work, all while living in the worst conditions!

It was wrong for our nation in the late 1930's to round-up all Japanese-Americans and put them in the concentration camps while our government figured out what to do with them! Their lives were splintered and ruined, their property impounded, all because of our nation's greed and insecurities!

It was wrong for the whites of this nation and supported by this nation to enslave a culture, who did not invade American soil, with virtually no clothing, decades of no education, medical care, coupled with physical and mental abuse. The worst was the terrorism via a government supported and at one time funded white supermist groups such as the KKK and others!

It was wrong for black men all over American to be cheated, denied medical attention when needed for himself or his family, mentally and physically abused and it be accepted as the norm by white Americans!

It was wrong for white American to lie, cheat, steal, and kill the Native Americans when they so trusted you and helped you when you landed on Plymouth Rock and couldn't feed nor find adequate shelter for yourselves!

While I don't condone a life for a life, which is why the white race has survived thus far because there were so many times black Americans could have killed you, but chose through God's guidance not to...when Malcolm-X commented on JFK's assassination "the chickens are coming home to roost!"! It may have had some true to it... But, what is happening in our current times IS that the chickens are coming home to roost! It is the law of the universe that you simply cannot continuously treat others wrong by way of cheating them, abusing them, unfair dealings with trickery, passing laws that give advantage to one ethnic group all while imploding another and other selfish and mean tactics. The universe simply will not stand for it!!....and what is happening now is a result of what has happened for hundreds of years!

Now, the injustice that occurred with the Chinese...the Chinese has received reparations for it! Same for Japanese of the 30's and to some degree the Native Americans...but the Black-Americans have never received not one tract of 40 acres or one mule!

I ask only question...."do you consider this fair and equal treatment?

Black Americans need to realize that it was the Africans that started the slavery trade by selling off their own people because they were starving. Hey guess what? They still are starving. Does that mean that blacks are lazy or stupied or can only get ahead because of that stupied thing called EOE? And did you know that an African American is a person born in Africa that moves to America? When a black person is second generation American they are no longer African they are American. Blacks need to just deal with It's no biggie that thier skin color is different from white people, we are all people. Quit being lazy and trying to get something for free. It ain't gonna happen. There are many incredibly wealthy blacks in this country and they did it not by handouts, but by working hard for it like most Americans do. And those lazy sons of bitches need not wait for handouts from the rich black folk and don't be angry at the rich black folk for not giving you any handouts. Go get your own by working for it. I did. And yes, I am black. I'm not from Africa I'm from America. Get over your self you lazy people. Obama don't work for you, he works for the muslim terrorists and is working on destroying this country and he sure is doing a damn good job of ending America at such a fast pace. Quit your racial whining. Us blacks who have made it don't want to hear no more. And if you have to call your self African American, move to Africa and become the African you claim to be.

Lets face the facts, how long will America take the "you owe me attitude" or the "we've made it attitude"? The votes haden't even had a chance to be cooled off and you get an African American woman saying "I'm going to get free health care and I won't have to pay my mortgage" Wow, nice this is going to be a fun 4 years. Fact is I'm an American, my ancestors never owned a slave, so I don't see how some would find it fair I go out, work hard and then turn it over to those that feel there owed! Hell welfare is close enough for that. All your owed is a chance to make your life better by your own two hands. Other then that, your owed nothing. They want retibuiton, how about this, track down those families that did and try it in civil court, but spend your own money. Hell I'm going to get taxed more from this president anyways I can't spare the cash. I'll be supporting Obama socialism!

Ask yourself this? If an immediate relative (Father, Brother, Uncle, Sister, Aunt, Mom) you have died today, would you pay off all their debts tomorrow? What about those debts that belong to your Grand-Parents? Would you pay off their debts? Let's go back another generation and say that the Sears-Roebuck Corp learned that your pioneering ancestor ordered the family all new Sunday clothes from their catalog, but still owed money on them, from 1888. Would you pay the bill? Why not? (If you said you would, well I don't have an answer for that) Now slavery was wrong, we all know that. But asking the decendant of someone to pay for a wrong committed against an ancestor of yours is equally wrong. I mean afterall would you pay me reparations for the slavery my forebears faced at the hands of the Moorish occupation of Sicily. Two wrongs do not make a right.

Why shouldn't America pay for the many years of slavey? Why shouldn't we pay for our cruelty? Should we not have to pay for the labor and services, and the second class citizenship that we made those people endure? If you hired a maid to clean your house, care for your kids, cook meals, etc and you held her pay for 50 years then you tell her she is no longer needed. Do you beleive that she does not deserve to be paid?..........The nerve of you!!!!!!!!

That's a horrible analogy. If you hired a maid to clean your house, care for your kids, cook meals, etc and you held her pay for 50 years then you tell her she is no longer needed. Do you beleive that she does not deserve to be paid? Well, of course she deserves to get paid! Unfortunately, the Jerk didn't. And who are you talking to when you say, "The nerve of you!!!!!!!!". The guilty man is dead and gone. You're suggesting that innocent people pay for that mans sins, Why? So let me get this strait, you're demanding that totally innocent people pay money to other people who have never been enslaved, and who do get paid for the work that they do today.
I say The nerve of you!!!!!!!!

Why should we have to pay for something that happened that long ago. Slavery is no longer something that can happen legally. It is not a white persons fault if their ancestor was a slave owner as it is not a black persons excuse their ancestor was a slave and that is the reason for failure of this or that activity. The race card is no longer something to use when it comes to failure and success as you make your own success. Who cares what other people think and say! We do have a man with African descent running for president, I would see that as equal rights!

Anonymous (not verified) | Mon, 02/15/2010 - 4:16am

Equal rights are in the eye of the beholder, Believe it or not slavery exist today 2010. It's called Prison. I would always hear Black men saying that they did nothing wrong and ended up in prison. I would say "Right, you are a damn lier". Until I was arrested in 1998 and falsely accused of running from the police with a gun in my hand while selling drugs. Now my A.E.E. is worthless, I have been on job interviews in my field, never lied on the app., but time and time again being denied job after job. Or I can have the $18.00 per hour job for $8.00 per hour. Now me being a man with children, I must have an income. Slavery and persecution still exist here in America. African American men are 14% of the entire American population, but 80%-90% of the prison population. I admit I'm not an Angel but I have never once in my life done anything bad enough to go to prison, traffic tickets are the only thing that I have ever been guilty of. I don't do drugs, I don't drink, I don't sell drugs, too scared to steal and I have never owned a gun in my life, and I'm 43 yr. old. The law state's "If you are a prisoner, you are owned legally a SLAVE to the State.", So do you see where this is going. Do the research, reparations are long overdue. Again equal rights are in the eye of the beholder
